This elegant two‑piece antique afternoon dress, dating to around 1896 and worn in England, is a striking example of late Victorian fashion at the height of its refined silhouette and decorative sophistication. The bodice immediately captivates with its beautifully arranged pink tulle pleats across the bust, creating a soft, luminous contrast against the darker elements of the ensemble. Fine lace trims accent the shoulder and neckline, adding delicacy to the structured form.

The dress features half‑length sleeves finished with dramatic black tulle flounce cuffs, lending movement and a subtle sense of theatricality. A velvet belt defines the waist and ties the bodice visually to the richly textured skirt.

The skirt, crafted from textured silk, is shaped in a graceful bell silhouette characteristic of the mid‑1890s. It is adorned with velvet accents and a striking hanging appliqué of black glass stones, which catch the light and emphasize the garment’s luxurious craftsmanship. The skirt extends into a small, elegant train, completing the ensemble with period‑appropriate grandeur.

The dress is preserved in very good antique condition, with only minimal signs of age. Decorative items shown in photographs are not included.

A rare and beautifully balanced example of late Victorian afternoon wear, ideal for collectors of antique dresses, historic textiles, and museum‑quality garments.
